"Innerpowermeant" - Your inner power that is meant to be.
Having been born and raised in apartheid South Africa, from a very young age I witnessed firsthand the profound impact of societal injustice. This ignited in me, a deep passion for advocacy, empowerment and the well being of others.
In 2008, I earned a Diploma in Youth Development, which led to a career in community development and youth empowerment work within various African communities. In 2017, personal introspection prompted me to confront my own lived trauma, ultimately leading me to recognize the need for my own authentic healing journey.
A challenging pregnancy in 2020 heightened my awareness of the lack of holistic support available to trauma survivors, particularly during the perinatal period. This realization inspired me to pursue certifications in Life Coaching and Professional Counselling, which I completed in 2023. I became a Registered Professional Counsellor - Candidate in January 2024.
My practice is informed by my personal experiences with immigration, pregnancy, loss, and trauma, and I am committed to providing compassionate, individualized support to those facing similar challenges. It is a privilege to guide individuals in their journey toward reclaiming their holistic wellness and authentic self.
As a counsellor, I draw from a variety of therapeutic techniques to take a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of mental, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being. In collaboration with the client, I create an individualized therapeutic space and approach that resonate with and empowers each client to discover, embrace and thrive in their holistic wellness.
Examples of therapeutic techniques that I draw from:
-
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
-
Narrative Therapy
-
Solution-Focused Therapy
-
Somatic Therapy
-
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
-
Mindfulness and Grounding
